Bhopal Junction (Hindi :भोपाल जंक्शन , Urdu : بهبال جونستو, indhiS : )‎ (Station Code: BPL) is a Major Railway Junction of India and main railway station of Bhopal City, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

Construction

The main station of Bhopal is known as Bhopal Junction. It was constructed in year 1941 before India got independence. The second station of the city (Bhopal Habibganj) was constructed in year 1975 and its inauguration was done by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India. Bhopal Junction Railway Station is located on the Main Delhi - Chennai and Jhansi - Itarsi Railway Track which halts more than 140 daily trains, with a total of more than 280 trains within a week. Therefore the Trains for almost all the major as well as minor destinations in India are very easily available. To the north of the Bhopal Junction lies Bina Junction, to the south lies Itarsi Junction. There is one track which connect Bhopal to the west with Ujjain Junction, Ratlam Junction and Ahmedabad Junction. Also to some portion of Indore Junction and Dewas Junction.
